Are you an avid angler or enjoy sport fishing as a relaxing escape while on vacation in Laguna Beach this summer? This is you last chance to fish off our beaches or piers!
Beginning October 1st 2011, the Fish & Game Commission will impose new restrictions on fishing and taking plants, animals, shells or other marine life from coastal areas. The new fishing regulations adopted on June 29th will affect beaches from Santa Barbara to San Diego – this includes 7 miles of Laguna Beach’s State Marine Conservation area. Currently there are already bans on removing anything from the central Laguna Beach Heisler Park State Marine Reserve or other intertidal zones such as Treasure Island or Main Beach Tide Pools.
Summer 2011 is an prime opportunity for recreational fishing to take advantage of a variety of fish and excellent conditions before regulations take effect. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to cast your line and the Fish Finder gives you information on size and limits on local marine catches. Anglers can even purchase their fishing licenses online here.
